Recently higher powered fireworks were legalized for purchase and use by PA consumers

New revisions allow the fireworks to be used anytime day or night. Rep. Peter Schweyer has introduced HB 988 that would repeal recent changes to the fireworks law and would reinstate the provisions as they previously existed. These higher powered fireworks are a hazard to neighboring homeowners and pose a fire hazard. They are a risk to pets and livestocks, especially animals prone to flight. Terrified livestock and horses can be injured as they attempt to escape from the noise and fireworks displays that are often exploding over pastures. Panicked animals are a risk to their handlers and to the public.
